PAUL MCGOWAN
For the past 3 years Paul McGowan has been immersed in his Collaboration with the charity War Child UK; titled ‘Trigger Finger’ the work draws from the harrowing, yet everyday situations the charity is confronted with on the ground – the Exhibition was launched at the Drang Gallery in October 2013.
Paul has previously collaborated with Legendary American guitarist Gary Lucas, renowned for his productions with Captain Beefheart and Jeff Buckley. McGowan’s ‘Precipice’ exhibition became international news, when the Gallery was raided by armed riot police just hours prior to the launch in Belgravia London; concerned over the authenticity of a Chuck Jones style bomb, created for his installation ‘Bad Ladder’, Paul managed to bring Central London to a complete standstill.
The provocative Precipice Exhibition formed part of McGowan’s artist in residence position at The Eden Project, where he produced 3 progressive exhibitions addressing the project’s environmental concerns.
At the age of 20 he launched a collection at the world renowned Browns showroom on South Molton Street London, rendering him the youngest ever designer to have a collection bought by the iconic London Store.
In December 2013, Paul exhibited in the Houses of Parliament, alongside an impressive assemblage of Today’s leading Urban Artists including Inkie, Banksy, Gemma Compton, Elmo Hood, Sheppard Fairy, Nick Walker, and many more, in conjunction with a DJ Saved My Life and London West Bank Gallery for Smile Britannia.
Paul is currently focused on an Experimental Audio Visual Experience, collaborating with Ronnie Tee of Vision Artists and Bath Based DJ & Producer Jamie Tack – the project is shaping up to be ready for release in time for the festival season 2015.
